General Adoption Information

The Scott County Humane Society does not have a physical facility or shelter for adoptable animals at this time; adoptable animals are in the foster care of our members.

We feel this provides some advantages:

  • Foster parents get to know the animal better, insuring it finds a well matched home.
  • The animal spends his or her time with the comfort of people and without the stress a large shelter can create.
  • Reduced risk of illness as disease can spread quite quickly in a shelter.

All animals adopted from the Scott County Humane Society will be spayed or neutered (except in cases where this is not advisable due to age or health).
